In the previous article, one of the common client complaints was discussed. The second issue presented by Goldman Sachs executive James Donovan is “my lawyer is like Dr. No.”
With both a J.D. and MBA, Donovan understands that lawyers often decline client requests because they are looking to protect their interests. However, Mr. Donovan’s suggestion is that lawyers make sure to “always come up with alternatives” as well as to explain the situation to their clients instead of just refusing them. This will not only ensure a lawyer’s position, but will also improve the relationship between the lawyer and the client, thereby ensuring that the work getting done will be quick and highly effective.
